AWS Toolkit for Eclipse

March 26th, 2009

eclipse-ec2-pluginYesterday Amazon launched their new AWS Toolkit for Eclipse. The toolkit is targeted at Amazon EC2 developers and provides basic management features along with tools for deploying and debugging Java web applications.

They have a really nice video hitting the main features.

You can find out more about the AWT Toolkit for Eclipse at http://aws.amazon.com/eclipse.

I got a change to play around with it yesterday on some of my instances and it certainly makes alot of mundane processes easier.

Some of the key features include:

  • Remote debugger
  • Reboot or termininate instances
  • Open remote shells
  • Attach elastic block storage volumes
  • Launch new instances
  • Manage serurity groups and permissions
  • Manage your Elastic Block Storage volumes and snapshots
